According to the Status on Black Women in Politics, Black women drive the economic and electoral power of Black communities nationwide yet remain underrepresented through all levels of political office. Higher Heights for America is "building a national civic engagement infrastructure and network to strengthen Black women’s leadership capacity and is investing in a long-term strategy to expand and support Black women’s leadership pipeline at all levels and strengthen their civic participation beyond just Election Day." The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.'s mission is to advocate on behalf of black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education and economic empowerment.
